For Houston, ‘Energy Capital’ May Mean More Than Oil And Gas

Alternative sources of energy are becoming increasingly popular in Texas and other places.

It’s good news for the environment, but what does it mean for Houston, a city whose economy depends heavily on oil and gas?

John Berger, the CEO of Houston-based solar company Sunnova, wants the Bayou City to be known as the capital for all energy sources, not just oil and gas.

“We should embrace technology, we should go out there and we should take our talent — the best people, I think, in the world as far as energy, and the biggest cluster of those people certainly — and we should harness that talent,” he said. “And we should be in lead of everything: solar, wind, oil and gas, everything.”
